Abstract

This technical-executive report presents a diagnosis of the creative economy in municipalities linked to three Regional Governance Bodies in Minas Gerais, Brazil: Caminho Novo, Malhas do Sul de Minas, and Serras de Ibitipoca. The study aimed to identify initiatives, potentialities, and weaknesses related to the creative economy, considering its contribution to regional tourism development. Methodologically, the research adopted a mixed approach, based on secondary data, consultation of the Mapas Culturais platform, and analysis of dimensions such as creative initiatives, income generation, innovation, cultural identity, sustainability, entrepreneurship, intellectual property, and territorial image. The results indicate that the analyzed regions have significant cultural potential, associated with handicrafts, festivals, gastronomy, historical heritage, popular manifestations, and local productive vocations. However, this potential is still poorly systematized, weakly formalized, and insufficiently integrated into tourism development strategies. The study identifies a limited presence of specific public policies, scarcity of organized data and records, weak articulation with universities, limited intellectual property protection, management weaknesses, and the absence of robust territorial branding strategies. The report concludes that strengthening the creative economy in these regions depends on planning, capacity building, public support policies, registration of cultural assets, technical assistance, rights protection, interinstitutional articulation, and integration among culture, creativity, entrepreneurship, and tourism.
