Abstract

This literary review article is based on the reading of The hidden dialectic: avant-garde – technology – mass culture, by Andreas Huyssen, which composes his book Memories of Modernism; and the article Art outsider: transforming the margin into the center, by Vera L. Zolberg, published in 2017, in Revista Nava, which awaken in us the desire to think of Contemporary Outsiders as the Vanguards of the 21st century. What seems possible to us due to the proximity of both in what concerns, above all, the relationships they establish with the artistic production that is at the center of the current paradigms of an era, and the rips and changes that they can promote in these circuits, from their cracks. An approach inspired by the idea that, by offering us a multiplicity of possibilities to produce, experiment and conceptualize art, contemporaneity also invites us to more multiple paradigms, which match the multiplicities of existences and productions of this and so many other times.
