Runway slaves in Minas Gerais, and the announcements of the newspaper “The Universal” 1825 a 1832

Resumen

This article analyses the profile of runaway slaves in Ouro Preto city during the period between 1825-1832, through the study of advertisements vehicled by the newspaper entitled “O Universal”. This work also aims at both identifying the underlying causes for those flights as well as examining daily slave life in captivity.
