Câmara dos Compadres: family relations in the city hall of Juiz de Fora (1883-1889)

Resumen

The article addresses the most pertinent issues relating to the dialogue between political history and the history of the family. It analyzes the origins of the families that dominated local politics since the granting of land allotments. From this data emerge the diverse kinship relationships of these families, the way they were integrated on the municipal chamber of Juiz de Fora between 1853 and 1889 and their significance in the establishment of power networks in the region surrounding the city.
