Abstract

The current crisis of democracy presents worrying similarities with the past - especially the period of the rise of fascism between the two great wars -, but it is necessary to pay attention to the specificities that the process has been assuming today. These specificities are exemplified here based on the context of the Brazilian experience of the past three decades, and having as a landmark the 1988 Constitution.
