Abstract
We try, in this article, to present a reinterpretation of a classic, but relegated period by the Brazilian colonialist historiography, defined as Philippine Period. From the concept of Catholic Monarchy, the reading of Spanish documents and the studying of the life trajectories of characters born coming from the sugar elite, we try to rebuild the connections between the Portuguese sugar America and the Habsburg Court.
