The memory of the jesuits and the guarani's "Chica" parties

Abstract

The members of Companhia de Jesus wrote down reports aiming to inform their superiors about the progress and difficulties faced by them in their apostolic work during the "mission” activities in overseas territories. Through their registers the Jesuits contributed to establish a memoir of the missionary acts in order to enable others to read, copy and diffuse their writings, as well as to inform about the native population targeted. This current work analyses the building up of this memoir from a specific subject, the "chicha" party of the Guarani groups and its changing into a historical source.
