Abstract
This paper develops a way of building a scientific model of modern history in order to present the binary construction which opposed in diff erent realities the terms - history and literature. It then endeavors to present the recent discussions following the linguistic turn and the consequences for that debate, with special attention to the model proposed by Metahistory, and proceeds to show with an example two current models that emerge in historiography: a history of texts and a history of reading.
