Abstract

The interest in Kaposi`s sarcoma (KS) was renewed with the HIV pandemic, once the former is an AIDS defining malignancy. Although the introduction of protease inhibitors has reduced the incidence of KS, the disease is still the most common cancer affecting AIDS patients. Many questions regarding the epidemiology, pathogenesis and diagnosis of this malignancy still remain unanswered. The authors undertook a comprehensive review, incorporating recent discoveries chiefly about early diagnosis, cutaneous presentation, and treatment approaches.
