Abstract

This article is an excerpt from a dissertation on linguistic-discursive strategies adopted by feminists in the fight against anti-feminist hate speech. Seeking to deepen the theoretical proposal of the Transitivity System (HALLIDAY, 1994) and align it with Critical Discourse Analysis (FAIRCLOUGH, 2001), this article seeks to analyze how feminists articulate the lexicogrammatical resources of their discourses to deconstruct and combat antifeminist hate speech against women. The methodology used is of a qualitative nature through which we generated a corpus of feminist resistance, extracted from the fanpage Empodere duas Mulheres, consisting of three feminist comments from 2018 that counter-argue with discourses historically shared in patriarchal societies and inflamed by anti-feminism. Data analysis allowed us to arrive at relational, verbal, material and mental processes, circumstances of time and mode and participants who benefit and act in Feminism. The identification and semantic interpretation of these entities in the context in which they were inserted show that there is feminist resistance to hate practices in reductionist, conservative and sexist discourses of anti-feminism. Thus, the conclusion is that Feminism is experienced and socially represented in feminist discourses as an empathetic and inclusive movement that fights for freedom and equality between genders, female empowerment and denounces sexist practices and social oppression.
