La péricope de 1 Rois 13,1-2 se distingue comme un passage unique dans la Bible Hébraïque. On y trouve les paroles condamnatoires d’un "Homme de Dieu" venu de Juda contre l’autel de Béthel, ainsi que l’introduction, par une prophétie, d’un monarque judéen nommé Josias, qui naîtrait environ trois cents ans après le vaticin prophétique, selon la logique interne du récit. Cet article propose l’hypothèse que ce texte a été rédigé au VIIe siècle av. J.-C., durant le règne de Josias, et reflète ainsi des présupposés idéologiques en accord avec le contexte historique de sa composition. Ces présupposés incluent la condamnation des autels situés hors de Jérusalem afin d’exalter le Temple de Jérusalem et de glorifier la dynastie davidique à travers la figure de Josias. Comme méthodologie analytique, une recherche exégétique textuelle sera menée à partir de l’original hébraïque, en cherchant à relier le texte de 1 Rois 13,1-2 au contexte de sa production.
