Despite being essential, Philosophy has historically been unstable in the Brazilian school curriculum, especially during the Military Dictatorship. According to Gramsci, the relationship between content and form is central to the teaching of Philosophy, requiring teachers to connect philosophical knowledge to the daily lives of students. Gramsci considers education to be a historical and combative process, essential for subordinates to critically appropriate the human cultural legacy. In this sense, the use of cinema as a tool in the teaching of Philosophy presents an innovative approach. Films, regardless of genre or budget, can serve as “conceptual units” that stimulate students’ critical and philosophical thinking, expanding the methodological possibilities in teaching the subject. They can contribute not only to transgressing the current hegemony, but also to enabling the emergence of a new hegemony.
