Abstract

ABSTRACT

Objective:To describe the challenges of nursing care for pregnant women in the prison system and identify relevant policies.
Methodology: This is an integrative, using the Virtual Health Library, MEDLINE, IBECS and LILACS. The data collection includes scientific articles published between July 2017 and July 2022.
Results: Being pregnant inside Brazilian prisons and during a pandemic brings fear of problems that may occur during the gestational period, feelings of sadness and anxiety become frequent, referring to a parallel between health, freedom and access.
Final condiserations: The precariousness of Brazilian prisons and the flaws in human rights are identified, making evident the damage to health care. With this, in the face of the pandemic scenario, the importance of nurses in the care process was perceived, together with public policies to guarantee a healthy pregnancy.
