Abstract

This article arises from the author's observations and interactions with a support group providing socio-emotional assistance to parents with children involved in drugs. The text addresses themes of shame, pain, and loss within the context of social relations, the micropolitics of emotions, and their implications. At its core is the narrative of a mother who, burdened with profound sadness, recounts her experiences in attempting to rescue her son from the world of drugs and struggling to accept his premature death. By sharing her experiences in her narratives, this mother establishes a socio-emotional relationship with other participants, indicating that the emotions arising from this interaction with peers indeed stem from a social construction.
