Abstract

This study analyzes the structural relationship between capitalism and patriarchy in Brazil based on the contributions of Marxist feminism, understanding the feminization of labor as a historical mediation of capitalist exploitation and the reproduction of social relations. Grounded in the method of historical-dialectical materialism, this work departs from the category of capitalist totality in order to apprehend the articulation between class exploitation and gender oppression as inseparable processes within the capitalist mode of production, especially in dependent socio-economic formations. The research adopts a predominantly theoretical approach, based on a Marxist bibliographic review, articulated with the analysis of secondary data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and the National Household Sample Survey (PNAD). Patriarchy does not constitute an autonomous system, but rather a functional element of accumulation dynamics, operating as a mechanism of social hierarchization, fragmentation of the working class, and acting in the reduction of social reproduction costs. In the Brazilian context, marked by uneven and combined development, the incorporation of female labor power occurs in a contradictory manner, deepening the sexual division of labor, wage inequality, and the intensification of the double workday. The feminization of labor is thus interpreted not as an emancipatory process, but as a reconfiguration of forms of exploitation and domination, particularly during the advance of neoliberalism and productive restructuring. In this way, it is concluded that understanding the condition of working women in Brazil requires articulating gender and class as central analytical categories, reaffirming the relevance of Marxist feminism as a critical tool for analyzing the metamorphoses of contemporary capitalism.
