Abstract

This paper investigates the relationships between musical practices in the brazilian afrofuturist artistic field and Abdias de Nascimento's concept of quilombismo. Based on the reading of the book Quilombismo and the analysis of the musical repertoire of Brazilian artists, this text reflects on the connections and distinctions between both concepts. Based on qualitative research of authors who discuss afrofuturism, a term created by Mark Dery, a white american writer, the text proposes the creation of a new term that dialogues with brazilian reality through musical practices that combine sounds from ancestral popular culture and virtual and digital elements: aqui-lombism@. In this way, the aim is to analyze the musical production of our country in tune with our own experiences and afro-diasporic references.
