Abstract

This review aims to make considerations about the work However, it moves: the 2008 crisis and the new dynamics of capitalism launched in 2021 by Editora Boitempo in partnership with Iskra editions. The book is authored by sociologist Iuri Tonelo, PhD in Sociology from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and sought to address the economic, political and social determinants of the 2008 global financial crisis. The main thesis defended in the book concerns the fact that this crisis implied a historical cleavage, representing the collapse of neoliberal hegemony. This cleavage implied a series of reconfigurations and metamorphoses of capital itself, but also of the world of work, causing the emergence of social conflicts in different parts of the globe. In view of the methodological approach and the quality of the writing, as well as the theme dealt with in the work, we recommend its reading for students in the area of Social Sciences for being able to carry out a synthesis between the elements of the economy in a didactic way, together with the social and political impacts on the Brazil and in the world, proving to be a work of great theoretical and empirical weight.
