Abstract

Based on a reading of the relationship between the work of Pierre Bourdieu and central figures of French philosophy and history of science, such as Gaston Bachelard, Georges Canguilhem, and Alexandre Koyré, the paper presents elements that allow us to clarify central issues in the sociologist’s thought. Among others, there is the relational conception of social science, the critique of naive realism and spontaneous sociology, and normativity and the moral aspect of science. The paper is part of a broader project of reflection on the concept of science for Pierre Bourdieu.
