Abstract

Introduction: Occupational Accidents involving Biological Material (OABM) constitute a significant public health problem, especially among nursing professionals, due to high occupational exposure and gaps in adherence to biosafety measures. In this context, Continuing Health Education (CHE) is a fundamental strategy for improving work processes and strengthening worker safety. This study aimed to report the experience of an educational action focused on the prevention of OABM, developed from the application of the Maguerez Arc. Methodology : This is an experience report carried out in a university hospital, with the participation of nurses and nursing technicians. The intervention was structured according to the five stages of the problem-solving method: observation of reality, identification of key points, theorization, elaboration of solution hypotheses, and application to reality. The educational strategies included participatory dynamics, collective discussion, clarification of doubts, and the provision of digital educational technology through an e-book accessed via QR Code. Results: The initiative fostered critical analysis of practices related to the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), accident reporting, and knowledge of institutional post-exposure care protocols. High participation from professionals was observed, encouraging the exchange of knowledge and strengthening the safety culture in the workplace. Conclusion: It is concluded that the use of the Maguerez Arc, combined with post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), proved to be a powerful strategy for promoting critical reflection, fostering changes in professional practices, and contributing to the protection of worker health.
