Percepção dos médicos sobre reuniões entre níveis de atenção em uma rede municipal de saúde de Pernambuco, Brasil

The article analyzes the perception of doctors in primary and secondary care about the intervention Joint Meetings between Health Care Levels: Diabetes Shared Care Guidelines and Joint Discussions of Clinical Cases in Mental Health in a municipal health care network of Pernambuco, Brazil. Evaluative study, a survey carried out through interviews with 86 doctors who care for patients with chronic diseases. Univariate and bivariate data analysis was performed. Results demonstrated that doctors from both levels of care follow recommendations of the diabetes guidelines and considered useful for patient care. As difficulties: deficiencies in services structure, exams and continuity of treatment. A divergence between primary and secondary care was verified concerning the causes of difficulties to participate in the meetings in mental health. The exchange of experiences in joint discussions of clinical cases in mental health was considered adequate. Doctors stated trust in professionals of another level of care, even not knowing them personally and need to collaborate with each other to offer adequate care. Findings indicate that doctors agree that the intervention improves communication and coordination of care between primary and secondary care, and contribute to self-criticism and thinking on the need for changes.
