Convivendo com a hipertensão: saberes e práticas de pessoas diagnosticadas

Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to identify knowledge and practices of people diagnosed with Hypertension. Method: It’s a qualitative research conducted with 31 hypertensive patients in Juazeiro-BA between March/May 2013, through recorded interview, and data analyzed by the Content Analysis. Results: Most participants were retired, with completed elementary school. They were perceived difficulties for changes in lifestyle, hypertension being a problem mainly by imposing these changes and medication every day. Had minimal information about hypertension, which can contribute to the motivation and the control of blood pressure levels and treatment. Conclusion: The study pointed out the importance of recognizing the sociocultural factors life of individuals and need inclusion of these groups in health education, this is a strategy that aims to encourage the autonomy of the front subject to processes of health and disease, reducing morbidity and mortality.
