Participative Management: Analysis and Refletcions About the Implementation Process in a Unit of Primary Health Care

Democratic decisions, with greater autonomy, participation and co-responsibility of everyone in the practice of working in health, has been the great challenge of participative management. We conducted a case study with qualitative approach in a Unit of Primary Health Care in Porto Alegre, Brazil, to analyze and reflect on the implementation of a project of participative management. We know the different perceptions, identifying its contradictions, problems and possibilities. We describe the implementation of management Colegiada recovering its initial proposal. We noticed that while the entire team involved in the sharing of decisions and tasks, modify the dynamic of the work, putting in debate different ideas and practices, often conflicting and contradictory. Understand the different motivations for the work of members of the team, its guiding principles, the desire to change, and its relations with the proposal to management. In relation to participation are also different approaches and we still have difficulties to involve everyone, but some improvements arise. The time, autonomy and communication are related in the main difficulties. Despite the difficulties, the team is building a more dialogical and participative management based on more interdisciplinary work, more communicative and more processors.
