Public Policies for adolescents: an analysis under the perspective of health professionals.

According to data of IBGE (2000), 21% of the Brazilian population meets themselves between de age 10 to 19 years-old, being 50,4% of masculine sex and 49,6% of the feminine sex. Despite the raised number, many of these young people still do not have access to information and services adjusted in the scope of same the sexual and reproductive health that guarantees the practice of the sexuality in safe and responsible way. In this way, the objective was to analyze, under the view of the health professionals, as the adolescents have been inserted in the municipal public politics, mainly as for the aspects of the sexual and reproductive health. Semi-structured interviews, directed to key persons in seven of the nine health districts of the municipality were carried out. Despite of shortcomings inherent to the public health system, such as lack of financial resources, infrastructure, well trained professionals, the study revealed difficulties in attending the adolescent clients, which extend into other areas of the society, including educational and cultural dimensions. The actions taken and strategies used in attending adolescent clients by Basic Health Unities are still in a starting phase, punctual, focused on curative aspects and lacking or even hampering the educational approach.Downloads
