Management of Nursing in Basic Units: the information as an instrument to Decision Taking

Abstract

The Health Information Systems (HIS) consist in essential support to the organization and services management, since it offers subsidies for the functions of management in units of health and, as consequence can lead to one adequate assistance/care for the individual and/or collective. This article discuss about HIS, while management tool, for decision taking and the objective is to analise the use of the informations produced by health services, in the decision process, by the nurses in the management of Health Basic Unit (HBU) in Itabuna-BA. In this sense, a descriptive research was carried through using a qualitative approach, developed in 08 HBU situated in the urban zone of the city, involving the accomplishment of semi-structuralized interview applied to 12 controllers of nurses. The thematic analysis of the collected information was adopted, using the theoretical referential of the General Theory of the Systems and the simonistic conception of management. The results showed that there is lack of feedback for the services by the Health City Department (HCD), expressing the importance of the HIS in the decision taking. Furthermore, was observeded that the collection of data involves the fulfilling of great amount of forms conducting the accumulation of the management and assistance functions. With these evidences, it was concluded that HBU management, in general, incorporates few or not incorporate the results of information in decision taking process. Then, it was understood that nurses should create conditions for to develop a management pratice more independent and responsible; searching her improvement through specific courses about HIS and the HCD promotes a propitious organizational environment to the best performance of the controllers.
