Ação de Polistes (Aphanilopterus) simillimus Zikán (HYMENOPTERA: VESPIDAE) na produtividade de lavoura de milho infestada com Spodoptera frugiperda (Smith) (LEPIDOPTERA: NOCTUIDAE)

Resumo

The fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda), in certain conditions cause severe damage to the corn plantation. Thus, our objective was to evaluate the predation of P. simillimus wasps on S. frugiperda, by means of measuring corn productivity. The experiment was carried out on a 500 m2 corn plantation in Piracicaba, SP, where 20 wasp nests were distributed in artificial shelters around it. The results obtained from the experimental area were compared with the ones from the control areas (200 m2 - free of wasp), infested or not with S. frugiperda. Experimental areas was higher, both comparatively, the productivity in terms of total gross weight
(15,94%) and total weight of grains (13,07%).
