The objective of this study was to evaluate the structure and diversity of the macrofauna associated with Eichhornia azurea (Swarstz) and Pontederia lanceolata Nutt, 1818 in the Coqueiro Bay, Retiro Novo Farm, Pantanal de Poconé (MT, Brazil). Samples were collected in the dry period of 2001, in two sampling stations: station 1 (impacted) was located near the farm, and station 2 (natural) in the opposite margin. In total, 972 organisms were identified, in 48 taxa, and Dytiscidae (Coleoptera) and Chironomidae (Diptera) numerically dominated the macrofauna. The results showed differences on the composition and structure of the associated macrofauna, thus suggesting that the farm is probably influencing those communities, and that each macrophyte species possess its own associated organisms.Downloads
