Resumo

The Chapéu d’Uvas Reservoir, built in 1995 at superior course of Paraibuna river, Paraíba do Sul river basin, MG, is 23 Km long and has no hydroelectric purpose. The damming impact, of this reservoir was evaluated using the species composition and longitudinal distribution of the fishfauna. The collections were carried out for 13 months in three sites: upstream, reservoir and downstream. It were registered 33 species. The upstream site is the more resembled to conditions before damming and was useful as comparison parameter to evaluate the habitat alteration and homogenization on diversity and richness. The upstream site had the biggest values of richness, diversity and evenness, while in the reservoir were registered the minor values. The biggest similarity was found between upstream and downstream points, and the smallest between upstream and the reservoir.
