7) Concordância verbal com construções partitivas – uma proposta de análise

Inglês: This paper presents a generative analysis of verb agreement with partitive constructions comprising the terms “maioria” and “parte”. Optional character of agreement with these constructions is discussed. It is argued that verb agreement depends on the classification of the partitive term, which can be either a lexical or a functional item. In the first case, it is assumed that the partitive term governs agree ment and that a plural DP is within its complement. In the second case, it is assumed that the subject is a Small Clause and the verb agrees with the plural DP that is modified by the partitive term, which is analyzed as a quantifier.

Tradução: Apresenta-se, neste artigo, uma análise gerativista da concordância verbal com construções partitivas compreendendo os termos “maioria” e “parte”. Discute-se a ideia de concordância facultativa e defende-se que a concordância verbal depende do status categorial do termo partitivo, o qual pode ser analisado com um item lexical ou funcional. Propõe-se que a concordância singular corresponderia a uma representação estrutural do sujeito em que o termo partitivo é um núcleo lexical que seleciona um PP que contém um DP definido pl. A concordância plural corresponderia a uma representação do sujeito no formato de uma Small Clause e o termo partitivo atuaria como quantificador do DP pl com o qual o verbo concorda.
