Inglês: Grammatical configurations of adverbial constructions in conversation
Based on functionalist assumptions (HALLIDAY, 1985; DIK, 1989), this paper presents the results of a research focusing on adverbial constructions. Its main aim is to present the grammatical configurations of these constructions, and discuss their different discursive roles in conversation. The data presented is constituted of 1,275 fragments which were selected and analyzed from a corpus of nine hours and fifty two minutes of recorded material The findings support the functionalist assumption that the ways through which the speaker combines his/her clauses are not primarily/exclusively governed by the language system. Instead, these ways may be considered as choices that are made by the speaker as part of his/her “communicative competence”.

Tradução: Fundamentado em pressupostos funcionalistas (HALLIDAY, 1985; DIK, 1989), este trabalho apresenta resultados de pesquisaacerca das construções adverbiais. Pretende-se, aqui, especificamente, apresentaras configurações gramaticais dessas construções e discutiras diferentes funçõesdas configurações no textoconversacional. Para a pesquisa, foram analisadas 1.275 ocorrências, selecionadas após nove horas e cinquenta e dois minutos deescuta de material gravado. As conclusões corroboram o pressuposto funcionalista de que os modos pelos quais o falante combina suas orações não são governados prioritariamente pelo sistema da língua,mas situam-se no campo das escolhas, fazendo parte da “competência comunicativa” do falante.
