Abstract

This article aims to analyze the specificity of the post-mortem punishment of Ana Rodrigues, convicted by the Inquisition, from the perspective of Carl Jung's Analytical Psychology. The research problem lies in understanding how mechanisms of institutional control and symbolic violence operate beyond physical death, such that more than one death was attributed to the new-christian. The objective is to investigate the performance of the Tribunal of the Holy Office as a tool for social regulation and repression of religious dissidence, using the case of Ana Rodrigues as a central axis. The methodology consists of bibliographic research, employing Jungian theory as a hermeneutic key for the analysis of the shadow and institutional archetypal projections. The results demonstrate that the punishment of Ana Rodrigues aimed not only at individual chastisement but also at the annihilation of memory and the consolidation of a mechanism of exclusion against the feminine and Judaism, thus revealing the deep psychological dimension of the colonial power structures employed by the Inquisition.
