THE DEFENSE OF A TERRITORIALIZED INDECENT/QUEER LIBERATION THEOLOGY
REFLECTIONS FROM THE MARGINS

Colonial structures generally begin by seeking, through religion, to undermine, shame and, ultimately, kill our bodies and lands (our own territories) to enslave us and deny us our existence. This article explores and addresses issues related to the potential that an indecent/queer liberation theology rooted in the notion of territorialization can offer to challenge oppressive colonial structures in ceremonies and rituals. In a polyphony of voices, including dialogues between liberation theologian Marcella Althaus-Reid and sociologist Frantz Fanon, this research shares some insights into the aforementioned issues. The ultimate aim is to contribute to the construction of discourses that challenge oppressive colonial structures in ceremonies and rituals.
