Abstract

In the current article, we exploit the role of Muses in ancient Greece as inspiring entities of poetry and, more broadly, donors of the creative act itself. We will observe the elements that denote importance to poetic activity, emphasizing the question of the relevance of words for the ancient Greek. The Muses were revered as divine sources of inspiration, especially in poetry. Through their influence, poets sang cosmogenesis and expanded the horizon of symbolic articulation of women and men. In poetry resided, guarded, a whole universe of social and cultural configurations. Therefore, the intimate relationship between the muses and poets is examined, especially elements of Hesiod’s Theogony.
