Bible reading habit: A legacy of the Protestant Reform and the rise of the Mobon Movement in the Diocese of Caratinga (MG)

This article analyzes the biblical reading habit formed by the Protestant Reformation within the religious conflicts unleashed in the early twentieth century, in the cities of Alto Jequitibá and Manhumirim (Zona da Mata Mineira), between Presbyterians and Catholics. The apologetic confrontations gave rise to a biblical lay formation movement that influences generations in the diocese of Caratinga. The analysis will be made from Hans Robert Jauss' contributions to the Aesthetics of Reception.
