a relação entre violência e religião no contexto da Religião Nórdica antiga

Resumo

Nossa pesquisa teve como objeto de estudo a Religião Nórdica Antiga, em especial, a figura dos berserkir, guerreiros da Era Viking (sécs. VIII-XI) que praticavam ritos mágicos e estariam associados com Odin, uma divindade guerreira. A partir da análise de documentação medieval, o objetivo desse artigo foi perceber a relação entre religião e violência, tema delicado e até polêmico hoje em dia, no qual alguns tendem a defender uma visão romanceada das religiões como sendo pregadoras do bem, mas outros apontam a intolerância e o fanatismo como propagadores de distintos atos de violência. Posto isso, analisamos como esses discursos se relacionam no contexto dos berserkir, procurando destacar que violência e religião não seriam antagônicas, mas colaboradoras na formalização de uma “violência sacralizada”.
