Ragnarǫk: alternativas de interpretação da escatologia escandinava

Resumo

O presente estudo objetiva apresentar outras perspectivas de interpretação ao Ragnarǫk, o mito escatológico escandinavo, no lugar à teoria comum de que ele seria uma narrativa da suplantação da religião nórdica pelo cristianismo. Após introduzir a cosmologia nórdica e o mito do Ragnarǫk, as discussões elaboradas por autores que destoam do lugar comum sobre a interpretação desse mito são apresentadas. Foram identificadas duas linhas de análise: uma que considera a narrativa mítica do Ragnarǫk uma alegoria a eventos históricos do passado, e outra que considera a narrativa mítica do Ragnarǫk como um alerta aos perigos de se ir contra os valores da sociedade nórdica.
