Abstract

The main porpuse of this work was to identify some management models that have been developed for the segment of cultural-religious tourism in Mexico. With the purpose of establishing a theoretical-conceptual approach that would serve to ground a research project in development on this tourism segment. A non-experimental exploratory-descriptive methodology was established, through the documentary review of scientific articles on cultural tourism, religious-catholic and management models. The results show that religious-Catholic tourism has not been established as an opportunity for growth and secular tourist attraction that makes it an attractive tourist product for all types; We still do not have accurate information to differentiate this tourism product from others such as cultural and pilgrimage tourism, which allows establishing management models focused on the development of this sector.
