About a price history of colonial Brazil: methodological issues

Resumen

Price history in Brazil is not a theme that have at tracted many historians. However, many researchers have in the last few years proceeded to building price series as a central resource, namely to the period after 1808, but the same is not true for the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.This article aims at introducing some methodologial issues concerning the building of price series, with special attention to the possibilities of constructing a conversion factor to some currencies in the period.
