Economic History made by Economists: Cliometrics and New Institutional Economics

Resumen

For Brazilians, North Americans and Europeans economists, the New Institutional Economics and Cliometrics are, both, the schools that gave the principal ways to think about Economic History in the academies. Although they were born some years ago, they are not so much recognized by Brazilian Historians. This paper intends to present some of the theoretical foundations of the mentioned schools, their origins and limitations.
