The artisans and the Corpus Christi procession in the Arquivo Municipal de Lisboa – XVII and XVIII centuries

Resumen

The article analyses notices and petitions related to the Lisbon Corpus Christi procession, which involve the artisans in the XVIII century. The sources enable us to discuss the political-religious role of the artisans in the ritual, as well as the day-to-day aspects and materials used. The text also revisits a series of goldsmiths’ petitions from the XVII century, when they were the center of a disagreement in the ritual.
