The cure through technique: the engineering club and the urban issue in the city of Rio de Janeiro at the turn of the 20TH century

Resumen

This article aims to discuss how the technical field developed in Brazil in the late nineteenth century and how engineers affiliated to the Engineering Club sought to construct a discourse that legitimates them as a privileged category to solve urban problems that extended for decades in city of Rio de Janeiro.
