Resumen

The great Argentinean transformation, and particularly that of the city of Buenos Aires, affected los inhabitant's living conditions. In this period social exclusion increased, as a result of spatial segregation of social groups. The elite prefered the north Barrio Norte, leaving downtown near Plaza Victoria to those unable to move. State action was important to these social groups’ segregation, redefining the regions for proletarians and for the bourgeois. These spatial changes shaped a new Buenos Aires with a new physiognomy. In this text we establish these changes in Buenos Aires between 1880 and 1920.
