Resumen

This paper studies the people in Bananal, São Paulo, that planted coffee in at least one of the years between 1799 and 1828 and that in 1829 had ceased to produce coffee or did not appear in the 1829 census - the produtores eventuais of coffee plantation. The purpose of the study is to achieve a deeper knowledge on the early stages coffee plantation in Sao Paulo, using as sources the manuscript censuses and the land Census The suds of demographic and economic elements allowed characterization of the produtores eventuais: the heads of their households were older in average; their shares in total slaveholding and land property were smaller most produtores eventuais farmed somebody else lank they lived in poor material conditions and their rate of spatial mobility was high.
