The Slave Family in the Perspective of Micro-History (study around a 19th century inventory and testament: Juiz de Fora 1872-76)

Resumen

Our aim in this article is to evaluate, from an internal perspective, the relation between
the "senhores” and their slaves, and the legal will as an important document in this context. It constitutes an abundant source of study of the normal behavior of the slave society, offering rich detail that helps us to reconstruct the mentality of the slave owners.
