Abstract

This article analyzes the Catalan documentary Jo, Ramon Llull (2016), giving emphasis to the documentary’s representation of this Majorcan philosopher. Initially, we will map the documentaries on Llull produced since the 1980s, examining their main narrative and aesthetic characteristics, and their historiographic “voices”. After that, we will test the hypothesis that there is an analogy between this material and the movie The Name of the Rose and that in it there are political, diplomatic, and hagiographic meanings.
