Baroque parties in the 30 Peoples of the Missions

Abstract

This article analyses the festivities and celebrations occurred in South America during its colonization. It tries to explain how the Iberian culture improved, transformed its characteristics when in contact with the American reality. In the effort to introduce the native population (Indians) to the occidental Christian culture, there was a mixture of experiences that originates new and different cultural expressions.
