Abstract

The article mobilizes the notion of asymmetric dialogue to characterize the position of Brazilian historiography in global historiography. Next, it analyzes the theoretical and methodological dialogue of the historians of the University of São Paulo with the French historiography of the New History, investigating characteristics of the Postgraduate Program in History as a place of production, studying a set of six works defended at USP between 1985 and 1994.
