Abstract

This article focuses on the discussion about the work of the Franciscan friars of Saxony in the parish of Nossa Senhora da Vitória, São Cristóvão, Sergipe, in the period between 1895 and 1920. We intend to discuss the understanding of a civilizing proposal of the foreign friars in relation to the pilgrimage of Senhor dos Passos in order to undertake Catholic devotional reform in Sergipe.
