Identities in orbit: the inhabitant of the Triângulo Mineiro and the formation of Triangulinidade

Abstract

From the understanding of identity as a social and historical construction, the article discusses the establishment of the identity of the residents of the Triângulo Mineiro region of western Minas Gerais, in the late nineteenth century and early twentieth centuries, which specifically, formed representations and practices considered characteristic of people attuned to the principles of modernity and civility.
