Abstract

This article analyzes from the magazine A Defesa Nacional, in the period that comprising the years of 1931 and 1937, the discussion initiated by the military about the Brazilian Army need of modernization, their proposals and suggestions for necessary reforms to the military institution. The magazine’s editors of A Defesa Nacional highlighted and demonstrated the situation of the anarchy that it was the Army after the 1930 Revolution, divided into various currents, especially among those connection with the military mentality and the political mentality.
