Arts and politics: methodological considerations

Abstract

Based on the example of Giuliano Della Rovere, better known as Pope Julius II, this article discusses a few topics on the interrelationship between art and politics, in the context of the History of the Arts. Following general considerations, the text elaborates on the pontific patronage of the character in focus to discuss the mechanisms of political utilization of the art.
